the country where cops kill more people than any other place on earth should restore justice by allowing raytheon to kill and displace millions of innocents

people demanding to invade iran because their cops killed someone is like, beyond parody

just internal backlinks btw. if I'd implemented webmentions or something interesting like that it would be actually cool. what I actually did only seems cool to me right now because of the sheer number of rakes I stepped on attempting to do it.

you would not fucking believe how much effort it took me to implement an extremely simple and fully supported feature using HTML and a templating script. I think I may not be an intellectual giant. anyway my blog has backlinks now :hrng:

and I don't mean this to excuse weird unjustified leaps like thinking language algorithms are sentient and people are complicated computers, but I do understand why regularly working with things that give the appearance of volition would be persuasive

any philosopher would strangle me for this I'm sure but I can absolutely see why working with computers seems to persuade laypeople like me that questions about whether the universe is fundamentally deterministic or not don't practically make a lot of difference.

in theory a computer is the definition of a solvable knowable set of processes and nearly all of it is designed to be known or knowable by *some*body, but introducing even a moderate level of complexity to a deterministic system makes it do things that seem completely unpredictable (both intentionally and otherwise.)

why was I not using syncthing before now. I am an idiot.

I was hoping to add comments but most of the commenting systems for static sites are either Disqus, which is Disqus, or some kind of Rube Goldberg contraption like I was using before with Staticman before that shit the bed with a Jekyll update and I couldn't fix it

I'm hoping to add internal backlinks since zola now supports them but I spent a while wrangling with it yesterday so I'm not quite there yet
