To be clear: I 100% support the depcrecation of Flash. So much art is locked behind it, however, that I believe it should be preserved in some way.
With projects like Lightspark (a libre Flash Player alternative) and ruffle (a Flash emulator written in Rust which runs with no plugin, instead using JS) we will hopefully be able to view all of these without running Adobe's trashy software.
Ruffle is a particularly interesting project with several "huge" sponsors (including Newgrounds and coolmathgames). I'm assuming this project was chosen over Lightspark because it doesn't require a plugin, just server-side code.
